Wild Bamboo “rice” ( though not from the Himalayas ....)
from Tamil Nadus forests A very rare food item, mainly known to forest tribals. Bamboo flowers at irregular intervals of 30 to 50 years. When a certain bamboo variety flowers in India, it will flower also all around the world, science still has no explanation for this... After flowering the plants die, the seeds fall down ,and are collected by tribals, who store them as a power full emergency food ( in the old days famines were commen) You may boil like rice /millet , pulao, risotto, in soups ... (We offer also as flakes ) . Possible also to grind into flour.
